Who does Cedar Hill Shares serve? Who is eligible for assistance?
The Cedar Hill Shares food pantry provides assistance to individuals and families in need who live within the 75104 zip code or within Cedar Hill Independent School District boundaries.
Where do I sign up for food?
403 Houston St, Cedar Hill, TX 75104. Please call 972-293-2822 to start the application.
Food distribution hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 am-1 pm and Saturdays from 9 am-12 pm. We currently offer service by appointment only.
What information do I need to bring to sign up for assistance?
In order to receive assistance, the following guidelines must be followed:
- You must have a current photo I.D.
- You must be able to provide proof of residency verifying that your address is within the 75104 zip code or within CHISD boundaries.
- You must supply verbal verification of income for all individuals living in the household (documentation not required).
- You must provide the names and dates of birth for all household members.
- We also ask that you provide both a phone number and email address on your application.
You must complete an application once per year and/or notify the Pantry of any changes to your household information.
How often can I receive food?
Thanks to the kindness of generous supporters, we are currently providing food to those in need once per week during our drive-through distribution. We provide traditional food units and bonus bread/produce units on a rotating, weekly basis.
Distribution hours are:
Monday from 10 am – 1 pm
Tuesday from 12 pm – 3 pm
Wednesday from 10 am – 1 pm
Saturday from 9 am – 12 pm
Do you provide utility assistance?
We currently participate in the TXU Energy Aid program. Eligible clients can receive assistance through this program one time per calendar year. Please call 972-293-2822 to start the application.
Do you provide rent assistance?
We do not provide rental assistance.
How do I sign up to volunteer?
Families, individuals, business groups, team building, churches, youth groups, clubs, student organizations and other supporters are so important to us. Although we are currently limiting the number of volunteers in our facility, we need help sorting and stocking our food pantry, cleaning, completing clerical work and so much more. Please call 972-293-2822 to volunteer. Make contact, and then we will reach out to you to get you scheduled and involved.
How do I host a food drive and donate food?
Hosting a drive is the perfect way to partner with Cedar Hill Shares and join the fight against hunger. When it comes to feeding families, your drive is an easy way to collect non-perishable food items and make a difference in the lives of the families we serve. Gather your corporation, community organization or family and friends to help coordinate and collect items on a larger scale! How do I make a financial contribution?
Your financial gifts help Cedar Hill Shares provide meals in our community all year long. Donating online is secure and private. You are also welcome to mail contributions to P.O. Box 2694, Cedar Hill, TX 75106. Every dollar donated provides three meals.
